Hi,
After discussing this issue with Ralph I believe that the SVAL field
does not have the PP flag enabled because this would result in records
processing whenever something is writing to the SVAL field - even when
simulation mode is turned off.
So far most users seem to be using simulation mode for _manual_ testing
against a simple model implemented in form of a few additional records
(in this case you usually _pull_ the value through a link). My use case
is slightly different - I want to run _automatic_ tests in Python so I'm
trying to find a simple way of _pushing_ the values into my IOC through
Channel Access. There seem to be two solutions:
1. The Python code writes to the SVAL field and triggers processing by
putting 1 to the PROC field afterwards.
2. In addition to providing a Channel Access client the Python code has
to provide a Channel Access server that the simulation records can pull
their values from.
Thanks for your input!
Martin
