Hi,

We are using the TwinCAT IOC developed by LIGO https://git.ligo.org/cds/tcIoc to communicate with Beckhoff controllers, it parses a TPY file which can be generated when building the PLC code and it then creates EPICS PVs for accessing PLC variables. The version from LIGO provides a Visual Studio solution file for building, we have integrated the code into the normal EPICS build system and those changes are available at https://github.com/ISISComputingGroup/EPICS-tcIoc

Regards,

Freddie

Thanks for the reply and the diagram.

I don't have any experience using TwinCAT.

I believe ESS have created bindings to link EPICS to TwinCAT via ADS.

Best wishes,
Ronaldo

Dear Ronaldo,

Thank you for your email.

1) We are planning to integrate robotics system into our customer setup.
2) Whole equipment at customer sight is integrated trough EPICS.
3) Our robotic system requires EtherCAT based servo control/drive system.
4) Controller which is required for our robotics system can be integrated with beckhoff PLC and be a slave in the network.
5) As a part which will integrate our motion system and EPICS we are planning to use beckhoff PLC.
6) Questions: What beckhoff PLC at the moment is supported by EPICS?
7) Information presented in the installation guide says, that our motion controller can be as a slave in interface with twinCAT.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely
Artur

Could you share more information on your application to narrow your query down?
How is EPICS involved?

I gather your constraint is that you interface to a Beckhoff PLC.

Thanks,

Ronaldo

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am planning to integrate robotic system into the EPICS environment.
I am planning to use Beckhoff master (PLC) to control 3rd party motion controller.
Could you please inform me if there is any kind of relevant information available on particular topic?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Artur Piscalov
