phoebus and subarrays in displays

Hi,
I'm using a recent version of phoebus and epics base 7.0.6.1.  When 
displaying a subarray
value, it always defaults to something such as ["PV-value"] with both 
the double quotes and
brackets displayed.  Is there a setting in which the brackets and quotes 
can not be displayed?
