Hi Najm,

We surely can organize remote participation; every contribution is welcome.

However, some of the content and tasks may be difficult to follow if one is not at the site. But we try to prepare so that remote participation is feasible as well.

best regards,

Timo

Hi Timo,

Would it be a hybrid event or just on-site?

Best regards,

Najm

Dear colleagues,

As pre-announced in the recent EPICS Collaboration meeting, we are planning an EPICS Document- & Codeathon at The European Spallation Source (aka ESS), starting Monday the 28.August and ending Friday the 1.September, 2023.

Or if you prefer, week 35 (according to ISO 8601.)

The focus of this event will be documentation, in particular working on the documentation infrastructure: how to organize content between epics-controls.org and docs.epics-controls.org, learning (and documenting!) how to use the documentation systems, what features are available and which of them we should use. Also completing things like Application Developer’s Guide, the Record Reference Manual and have them in the same documentation set/site automatically generated and deployed. Cross-linking to other related documentation is also an important topic.

Of course, actually writing and updating documents is most welcome as well.

For coding, this time we would encourage people to “bring your own” – code contributions are always welcome but the core group may not be able to prepare issues for selection. But if you have a project in mind that you would like to work on, please consider joining.

More details about the tasks, how to prepare and practical arrangements like accommodation will follow soon.

Best regards,

Timo
