Thanks Jakub. This is very helpful. John
Hi John,
I'm the author of the ADKinetix driver. I had a look at the E7 datasheet on the Teledyne website, and I think that both drivers should work with it, since it is just using the PVCam SDK as you mentioned, although I don't have a unit to test this with. We've
used the ADKinetix driver with our Kinetix cameras using the USB 3.1 connection mode without issue, and the E7 appears to use USB as well.
I'd recommend trying to go with the ADKinetix driver if possible - it uses the newer event-based API (rather than the older polling one) for image callbacks, which allows for much higher framerates. When we originally set up our Kinetix cameras with ADPvCam
we would only get an inconsistent ~30 Hz or so in the default pixel mode. Once we wrote the driver with the newer API and switched to that we were able to hit the advertised 90 Hz at full resolution without an issue.
I think the version of PVCam that I include with ADKinetix is a bit older than the one you are getting, and I am not sure if support for the E7 is only included with the newer version - so you may just need to replace the libraries in the kinetixSupport directory.
If you run into any issues feel free to shoot me an email or make an issue on the github repo.

Subject: Teledyne RETIGA E7
All,
We are getting a Teledyne RETIGA E7. This has PVCAM Linux 3.10.0.3
I see areaDetector/ADPvCam
And areaDetector/ADKinetix "for communicating with Teledyne Photometrics cameras that use the PvCam SDK, with special focus put on the high speed
Kinetix product
line"
Does anyone know if either of these with work with the E7?
As always, thanks.
