Depending upon how major your changes are, you might want to consider
how hard it would be to allow BURT to use cdev instead of channel access.
(Goal is to have burt, medm, dm, ar, alh all use cdev). One prerequisite
to keep that from happening how is to produce a C binding (only C++ now).
One feature in the way of dependencies that CEBAF requires is a feature
that would automatically write to a special record.field prior to
any restore. We would use that to automatically shut off our injector
gun. This feature was in the TACL save/restore utility, and is a
requirement for CEBAF (one EPICS currently does not meet). All other
dependencies I can do without or handle in a script (tcl). Don't want
to handle this one in a script because of the machine safety issues.
