Actually, it SHOULD be possible to get EPICS running on an mvme162 without
my modified vxWorks. But you will have problems with VXI systems, the
NI1014 board, DVX2502, HiDEOS slave boards and anything else that requires
the use of the A24 space, a 1:1 mapping of A32 space, or expects the GCSR
to start at A16:0x0000. (If you don't know what I am typing about, try it
and see if you get funky bus errors from drivers or functions with names
like those I just mentioned. If so, grab my modified BSP. If not,
continue living the GOOD life.)

FYI --

At the APS, we ONLY support the 162 using vxWorks version 5.2. Older
versions might work, but I would not bet on it.

Anyone that receives a vxWorks tape from XFD or myself SHOULD receive a
version that contains my BSP board mods. If you want the latest copy of
my BSP mods and have an account, you can grab the parts I modified (the
config tree of the vxWorks distribution) by grabbing:

	ftp://phoebus.aps.anl.gov/usr/local/vw/vxV52/config.tar.gz (1MB)

Or you can just grab the entire release and untar it (easier than the wind
rivers CDROM installation) by grabbing:

	ftp://phoebus.aps.anl.gov/usr/local/vw/vxV52/vw52.tar.gz (29MB)

There is a 'bld' shell script that I use to compile it in
vxV52/vw/config/mv{162,167}/bld that should work where ever you have your
vxWorks 5.2 installed.

Questions, comments, concerns, flames, beer, and marriage proposals may be
addressed to me at [email protected]

Have fun,
