Dear all,

  This is probably another silly question ... but I am having trouble
getting an initial value into a string-valued field using Capfast.

  I tried using a hardware input but the string, being an invalid
double, was interpreted as a channel name (CA_LINK). So I tried a soft
stringout (same problem). So I tried connecting the hardware input to
the stringout's SLNK field hoping that this would set an initial value
for the VAL field (it seems to be ignored).
