Are you using capfast?   If so you may have an old version of the
symbol library.  In the symbols edfan.sym and edfans.sym
you should have Type:dfanout.

Some of the older versions had Type:dfan.
and edb.def also matches them with 
(RECORD "edfan" "edfans" "edfanm"
        (Type "dfan")
For the fanout record this should be declared as 
	(Type "dfanout")

I checked with the version currently at APS and found that it has this
problem also.  

I will discuss with Bakul how to deal with distributing symbol libraries.

Right now, I think LANL and the astronomy community have the same library,
but CEBAF may have a different one and APS is a slightly older version
of LANLs.

In the meantime, you could simply edit the symbols and edb.def and
fix them.
