As BESSY is an accelerator facility, the valves that are monitored separate
different sections of the vacuum chamber. Closed valves block the beam, so
they are displayed red.

Generally our status color convention is that everything that may prevent the
machine from being fully operational is red, while normal operation status
is green.

[This even includes the radiation safety interlocks: So the "access" status
which is safe for humans to access the ring is red (with the machine being
forced off) and the "no access" status is green.]
