Which version of base? (The c++-sources have changed a _lot_ lately.)

The c++ parts of EPICS base are not (yet) mandatory. So you don't need a
c++ compiler at all to compile and run EPICS. (Sorry if this is too obvious.)
Apart from that: Yes.
I.e. I know it _and_ it's possible.
While HP's native c++ compiler (and the CenterLine compiler) do not compile
the c++ parts, g++ manages to build things.
I'm using gcc 2.7.2.3 on a HPUX 10.20 machine and EPICS Base 3.13.1
(fdManager.cc v 1.15).
