I don't know of any EPICS sites logging to Oracle in a big way, but
LEP does log its data to Oracle, and spent a good deal of effort
tuning it up for good performance (although not as high as one can
achieve into custom files, they find it sufficient and a good way to
store and access their data). They presented papers on this at the Chicago
ICALEPCS, I think. They have a pure Java browser which could
be re-used and customized to other table layouts (used at CERN
to look at more than half a dozen Oracle databases with different
layouts, and gives good viewing performance including pan and
zoom).
