Please also note Bertrand Meyer's (not too long) comments on Java:
"Avoiding the Second Historic Mistake"
(http://www.elj.com/eiffel/bm/mistake). Not all of the points listed are
still valid today, but most are. Note also, that I strongly disagree
with Meyer's opinion that redefinition of class features with co-variant
signatures is a good idea. To allow this in Eiffel was IMHO a bad design
decision (nothing is perfect).
Java may be appropriate for client applications, especially those, where
performance is of secondary importance. I wouldn't even think of using
it on an IOC (under real-time requirements!).
