Hmm - etherboot uses the term NBI also; there it means 'Net Boot Image'
which would indicate that it indeed could be the correct image (with
the startup stuff added).

In reply to that first message, how many dots are printed after the
(NBI)?
How much RAM does your target processor have?
Do the bootstrap ROMs ever print the following?
