Hi Marty,
Thanks for your reply.
Your comments about the contents of the gateway.restart and gateway.killer
files don't correspond to what I see. Each of those files on my system
contain just one kill command. The gateway.killer file contains a single
kill command which kills the parent (watcher?) process. The
gateway.restart file contains a single kill command which kills the child
(gateway?) process. This is how I understood it was supposed to work.
What's seems to be happening on my system is that when I run
gateway.restart, the gateway process is correctly killed, however the
watcher then creates two new processes so I end up with one more than I
should have.
Can I just confirm... are you using the 2_0_0_0Beta1 version or the
previous 1.3 version?

Hi Steve,
I'm running the administration of 40 PV gateways on about 11
solaris machines and I don't have this problem. You should confirm that
the gateway.restart file contains the kill command to kill off the
server and the watcher processes. You can find this in the file
gateway.killer and it should be the last kill statement in there.
Also you should confirm that the PID in the kill statement is in fact
the PID of your PV gateways parent process.
