I have just committed a new msi.c with the following changes:
1) The scope of a macro definition is now limited to a single 'file' 
specification in the substitution file.
2) The output produced by msi is not affected by the presence or absence of 
the -V option.  Undefined macros are left unexpanded in the output stream.
3) If the -V option is specified, and if any undefined macros are encountered, 
the exit status of msi will be 2 (in addition to the existing message on 
stderr for each undefined macro).
