after finally getting our new alarm handler machine (and old
Linux notebook) set up correctly that it send out email when
there are alarms I checked into why it won't beep and found
that the 'default' directory has beeps disabled.
A copy of the solaris directory to 'Linux' fails to compile
because one of the include files isn't in the place where it
is expected and if I include one that we have on the system
I get numerous error messages.
I tried to implement a simple 'printf ("\007");' but can't
testthis from my desktop as my desktop doesn't beep at all
(tried all setup things I could think of, but as I don't have
a speaker - and usually don't need one - our systems people
told me that it just may not beep)Before I go and try to implement something (probably at 14,000ft elevation), has anybody already implemented audio for the alarm handler for Linux? Thanks, Maren
