Anyone have some advice for Chithra? It's been a while since I've thought
about StripTool or EDM.

This is not an dvice but just a report.

I run StripTool from edm but did not get the message Chithra mentioned.
I got the message "missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion" when I started edm but NO message when started StripTool from edm.

My environment is:
	EPICS 3.14.7
	+ edm 1-10-1ze
	+ StripTool 2.5.9.0
	on Scientific Linux 2.4.21-27.0.2.EL
(running on VirtualPC on MacMini with MacOSX 10.4.2)

EPICS, edm and StripTool are build from the source code on this machine, i.e. Scientific Linux.

Dear Christopher:

I am developing EDM applications in a Linux machine. I am trying to open StripTool through shell command tool in EDM. But I get the following error: Representation size 80 must match superclass's to override font

John Sinclair asked me to do the export LANG=C;edm but still I get the
above error. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Chithra.

Chithra,

Redhat 7.2 was the first to use UTF-8 rather than ascii. Try doing

export LANG=C;edm

The version of edm is found by doing

edm -v

When you run StripTool from the command line, do you get the same
message?

Also, see if your environment is significantly different when an edm
invoked shell script is run; i.e. have the shell command do env. Then do the
same command (env) from a terminal window.

The simple shell commands work, like 'ls' and running '.exe' files.

The

font problem comes only when I start the StripTool.

I tried in two machines with the following operating systems:
1. Scientific Linux SL Release 4.0 (Beryllium) with openMotif
2. Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)with openMotif

The EDM version and StripTool versions are:
1. EDM:???
2. StripTool: CA v2.4.3, Linked with CA:4.9

I am not able to find the version of EDM.

Thanks for your help.

Chithra.
