After Mirek sent such an impressive screen shot I'm sure there's a
broader interest in using that system....

At the Australian Synchrotron we've written a device support routine for
our Redhat Linux IOCs which allows various statuses, including the
machine
and IOC uptime, to be monitored via PVs.
If you wish, I can sent you the source code, including a small demo
application.
