IDL MCA and CA through firewalls??

Hi,

I am trying to control (via channel access) a detector/IOC using the IDL MCA 
GUI. For reasons beyond my control, I cannot get this client to
install properly on a computer which lives on the same side of the firewall as 
the detector lives.

However, I can run the IDL MCA client on a different subnet (and on the other 
side of the firewall). [For those at APS, I want to run the client on oxygen 
(52 subnet), but my detector and it's IOC are behind a CAT firewall (namely 248 
subnet).]

So, it possible for an EPICS client to talk to EPICS server through a firewall?
