Installed and build edm without problems.  Now I am following edm installation example from "How-To's and Examples" and am having difficulty with the Configure part.  Here is what is in the example file:

 Configure

  1) create project directories

       cd /home/user
       mkdir edm
       mkdir edm/prefs

  2) set environment variables

       export EDMOBJECTS=/home/user/edm/prefs
       export EDMDATAFILES=/home/user/edm
       export EDMFILES=/home/user/edm/prefs
       export EDMPVOBJECTS=/home/user/edm/prefs
       export EDMHELPFILES=/epics/supTop/extensions/src/edm/helpFiles

       The above variables should be set in /home/user/.bashrc

  3) create and populate component files

       edm -addPv /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/libEpics.so

       edm -add /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/libEdmBase.so
       edm -add /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/...
                ...libcfcaa62e-8199-11d3-a77f-00104b8742df.so
       edm -add /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/...
                ...libcf322683-513e-4570-a44b-7cdd7cae0de5.so
       edm -add /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/...
                ...lib7e1b4e6f-239d-4650-95e6-a040d41ba633.so
       edm -add /epics/supTop/extensions/lib/linux-x86/...
                ...lib57d79238-2924-420b-ba67-dfbecdf03fcd.so

Step 1 and 2 no problem.  Step 3, problems:

zms@esaux1 $ edm -addPv /afs/slac/g/esa/esalib/app1/epics/R3.14.9/
	extensions/lib/linux-x86/libEpics.so
Cannot open pv objects file - /u/ra/zms/esa/edm/prefs/edmPvObjects
Cannot open pv objects file - /u/ra/zms/esa/edm/prefs/edmPvObjects
Unknown command line parameter (-h displays help)
-------------------------------

The next command succeeds and creates edmObjects in edm/prefs, but the remaining commands seem to need the edmPvObjects and hence fail.

Are the steps outlined in the installation example outdated or something?
How should I setup my project area?  Thanks for helping.
