I work on Ubuntu - so that should be fairly similair.
In base/documentation/README.1st is a list of requirements
GNU make
PERL - for the scripts
Unzip & tar
GNU Readline or Tecla

Here is the list of depenencies of my epics ubuntu package.

But this package include alot of extensions and other things as well.
Even SDDS.
