You create an asyn port server talking to that IP address and port with
the drvAsynIpPortConfigure command in your startup script. For example:

drvAsynIPPortConfigure("LAN1","xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:10001")

where LAN1 is the name of the asyn port you are creating, and xxx is the
IP address or name of your device.

That will let you communicate with the device using the asynOctet
interface.

At the next layer up you can use the stream device support, or simply an
asyn record, etc. Do you talk to it in ASCII strings?

Subject: EPICS drivers or an EPICS interface to lantronix Embedded
Deviceserver communicating over TCP/IP

Hello Everyone,

We have developed a custom power supply controller with a Lantronix
XPORT embedded device server on it. The Lantronix XPORT is an Ethernet
to Serial chip. It is communicating with my LabView program over TCP/IP.

The port number on the Lantronix is 10001. How do I interface this to an

existing EPICS system ? What would I need to setup ? I am a newbie when
it comes to EPICS.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Sandeep
