I applied your patch to CVS, so it will appear in tonight's snapshot. If
someone wants a new release with that included it can be arranged.

We're happy to take patches from the community, but unless we get a request
from an APS user of this code (I don't know if any exist) we can't really
justify spending time debugging it here.
