I can speak for this one.

What is the status of these repos?

It is in active use on controls machines here at BNL (NSLS and NSLSII) and elsewhere. Our plan is to continue this.

They both seem fairly uptodate. Are
they fairly dependable?

That is the intent ;) I started this repository almost 2 years ago. So far there have not been any significant problems. Just the occasional issue with incomplete dependency lists. There where some problems with libreadline during the switch from Debian 5.0 to 6.0, but the package manager catches these and prevents any runtime issues.

Would it possible to just upload these packages directly to Debian or
Ubuntu? Are there any licensing issues? I would be thrilled if we
could just get these packages in the Debian/Ubuntu mainline.

We have been careful to track down the licenses for all the packages we build. I think the primary blockers are issues with Debian packaging policy and the EPICS filesystem layout, also dealing with cross building for RTEMS and vxWorks. Of course there is also the time and effort to maintain them if they were accepted.

I don't have any specific plans to pursue inclusion in the Debian or Ubuntu repositories. However, I am willing to make changes to the packaging to make it conform more with Debian policy.

Thanks so much for the info.

jamie.

PS. Do any of these repositories also included medm packages?

It isn't included since we aren't using it for NSLSII. adl2edl is included though. However, it you were interested in creating and maintaining one I'd be happy to include it.
