i have the following question.When reading the record reference manual i can see that epics fields are flagged DCT=no.
I would like to make sure that I understand correctly something here:
1. VAL field of output records such as ao are marked DCT=no, does it mean that i can't have in a db file record (ao,"mypv") {
field(VAL, "12")
}
and that the proper way to do that would be record (ao,"mypv") {
field(DOL, "12")
field(OMSL,"supervisory") ->if it is a initial value
field(OMSL,"closed_loop") ->if it is a constant
}
----Yes that's right.
2.TSE field is also marked DCT=no. So again what does it mean? and if it is not advised to use in db file then what is the proper way to implement it? via TSEL field?
----I believe that is right.
Database Configuration Tool (DCT), was the tool for configuring these in the dark ages. Where this field was set to no, it meant that it was not to be configured as the initialization and operation of that record would overwrite the field. Therefore, the value set in by the loaded database would never be used.
