Subject: Does anyone have support for Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4.0?

This is related to the Andor Neo thread. There is a new generation of optical scientific CMOS systems out, which include the:

 - Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4.0: http://hamamatsucameras.com/flash4/
 - PCO.edge: http://www.pco.de/categories/scmos-cameras/pcoedge/
 - Andor Neo: http://www.andor.com/scientific-cameras/neo-and-zyla-scmos-cameras/neo-scmos
 - Photonis xSCELL: http://www.photonis.com/xscell/index.html
 - QImaging (Rolera Bolt): http://www.qimaging.com/products/cameras/scientific/rolera-bolt.php

A reasonable summary is in Nature Methods last year : http://www.nature.com/nmeth/journal/v8/n12/pdf/nmeth.1777.pdf?WT.ec_id=NMETH-201112

The first three camera's are very similar: 4-5.5 Mpixels, high speed, low read noise, high QE, low dark current, all with 6.5 micron pixels. The Hamamatsu is slightly better read nose, dark current and QE than the other two, but is slightly smaller. The Edge and the Neo look really similar except the Neo seems to have better cooler, so can get lower dark current.

At Diamond, we currently support the PCO.edge, but we have a beamline that has, of course, noticed that the Hamamatsu specs are slightly better. Hence, I really have a multi-point question:

1. Has anyone written area detector support for the Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4.0?
2. Failing that, does anyone have any experience writing drivers with the Hamamatsu DCAM-API software?
3. Notwithstanding 1&2, has anyone any experience with the Hamamatsu ORCA Flash 4.0 and, if so, do they know if it delivers on the spec-sheet promises?

Cheers,

Nick Rees
