Lewis, that is exactly the plan, here I am only talking about layer 2 (Device Driver) of the areaDetector, no need to reinvent the wheel at other layers.

Hi, Ahed.
Why not let areaDetector be your "SDK"? In other words, why not standardize on the API areaDetector presents? Then you can use any camera that areaDetector supports. You don't do anything with SDKs or libraries areaDetector may use under the hood to interface with the cameras; all you use is the areaDetector API.
Or am I not understanding what you're trying to do?
