I would most enthusiastically suggest using asynPortDriver C++ class (by
Mark Rivers) to be used as a base class for your device driver. I am
sure there are many examples around.

amplifier) is all binary, not strings, and even includes the requirement

Any recommendations about how to approach this kind of problem? There
are a LOT of different commands required to operate this device.
