I believe that the args.status field can be either ECA_NORMAL or ECA_DISCONN -- but if you receive a disconnect notification this doesn't mean you won't get any more updates, it just means the connection to the serving IOC has been temporarily lost. If connection can be reestablished then you'll receive further updates.
I'm not aware of any other values, but I just test for equality to ECA_NORMAL.
