Hi Ralph,
I am not sure what form factors and devices you are interested in. We experimented with driving some NI cRIO devices mounted in their NI 9144 8-Slot EtherCAT Slave Chassis. My memory is that it worked, but in a limited way. To take full advantage of the system, you still needed to buy an NI development environment to tailor the Slave Chassis FPGA to your needs. The modules did not appear as independently addressable EtherCAT modules on an EtherCAT bus, as we had hoped.
Cheers,

Subject: Device Support Options for NI RIO
Hi,
Currently I am trying to get a view of what options there are for
connecting from EPICS to NI's RIO family of IO boards.
Specifically, I am only interested in solutions that do *not* involve
LabVIEW *nor* vxWorks.
I found a talk from last year presenting an approach developed by
UPM/CIEMAT. [1]
Are there any other things I should look at?
Thanks a lot,
~Ralph
