I saw a note from Kevin Peterson that I should be using VS 2010 and not VS2015 because several other synApps modules will  not build... I had been using VS2008 forever, but it lacks modern C++ etc. VS2010 lacks modern C++ for that matter as well...

I can't get it to build with VS2015 so I am trying VS2010. It is now harder to find on the internet, and comes as a *.iso, which needs a special tool do even mount it on windows 7. So many wrinkles.

The latest release 2.2.3 should build correctly on Windows. You can even
run the test suite. Mark even attested that this is the case on
tech-talk. The comment you refer to was written before 2.2.3 was released.

It is:

contains a link to the latest snapshot
(http://www-csr.bessy.de/control/SoftDist/sequencer/releases/seq-2-2-snapshot-latest.tar.gz).
However, you no longer need to use a snapshot.
