One of two planned weeks have passed - and we've got two test
reports so far (native Darwin and Windows 10).
That's good, but not good enough. Please contribute!
Dear all,
The first pre-release candidate of the next "current" series
release, EPICS Base 3.15.4-pre1, has been tagged and prepared
for download. [1]
This time, we urgently need your help with beta testing.
The 3.15 feature "Allow IOC to bind to a subset of the existing
network interfaces" required some noticeable changes in the
Channel Access server on the IOC.
Starting with 3.15.4, these changes will apply to every single
IOC, on every platform and every target architecture. This is a
critical part of any EPICS system.
We thoroughly tested the changes on the main architectures:
Linux, Windows, vxWorks and RTEMS. However, we don't have the
necessary access, experience and time to check all other
platforms. That's why we need your help.
The EPICSwiki contains a page with a test plan:
https://wiki-ext.aps.anl.gov/epics/index.php/RSRV_Configuration_Test_Plan
Please download and build 3.15.4-pre1, fire up the test IOC, and
run the 6 different tests described on the Wiki page. This will
probably take less than an hour.
Report any findings as soon as possible, so that we can fix
issues before 3.15.4 gets released.
The less common your target platform, the more important is
your help.
Next step in the release process is release candidate 1,
planned to be bundled and published on Friday the 13th.
(Seriously: two weeks from now.)
Thanks a lot for your help!
~Ralph
