Dear Elena,

That ISO is installing a binary version of EPICS Base and the example 
that has been created ~12 years ago. Your Linux does not support the 
ancient versions of libraries that it needs.
Try using the bootable image (same download page, but from 2012) in your 
VM - that's safe and obviously contains all required packages.
