Hi Vandana,
The mechanism in EPICS when an error like that occurs is not to clear the last stored value. Rather the mechanism is to put the record into an "alarm" state. caget should report the alarm state of the record, and you can display the alarm state on the standard EPICS GUI displays.
When the link is broken you can display the full state of the record with the following command at the iocsh shell.
dbpr "myRecord" 10
Please send the output of that command so we can see if the record is correctly being placed into an alarm state.
Mark

Subject: Question related to PV record
Hi,
I am trying to communicate a device using RS-232 serial interface supported by EPICS. For that purpose, I have done the basic things such as creating IOC, installing StreamDevice and AsynDriver.
I am facing the problem that if the link is broken or not connected then the last stored values are being displayed in IOC by putting caget and caput commands. How can i resolve this ? Is there any procedure to clear the last stored value ?
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Vandana
