Hello Lewis, John, Christoph, thanks for your comments and insights - at this moment, we were able to have edm built for Debian 9 internally using the mentioned fork. The package should be available in our stretch staging mirror once that is synchronized (overnight). There are no plans to use it as a baseline viewer solution, just an accommodation for a specific case (building and publishing it is a good bonus). Few notes: 1) I tested that it launches, but no further - will be some time to verify it on some actual screen collection. 2) The patch queue has a patch that has no ownership information. 3) As Lewis suggested, a pull request to epicsdeb edm may be a good idea.
