Hey Ralph and Lucas,

thanks for the information. I remember to had problems running multiple IOCs on the same host and thought it was due to both IOC tried to bind to the same ports. Maybe there was a different problem. I only tried it once and that was actually by accident.

I will test using the "host" network for my docker containers. This would also solve the minor problem, that the UDP broadcasts are not forwarded from docker's virtual bridge network to the physical one. And as Lucas pointed out, I don't need an additional CA-gateway container...

Best regards,
Florian

Hi Florian,

I'm using the script Ralph mentioned on [1] for Debian hosts and it works ok. I'm running a few dozen IOCs on some of my hosts.

Cheers!

Lucas

My only concern is, if I want to run multiple IOCs on the same host. (Never actually did that). Don't I have to set individual CA Server ports for each IOC? PVaccess sets it's port dynamically if the default port is already in use.

This is a very common mode of operation, and: no, you don't have to apply specific settings to IOCs.
The only caveat: If clients do not use broadcasts for name resolution, only one IOC will receive the name resolution request. (I.e. these clients only "see" the IOC that was started last.) The good news: there is a well-tested workaround for that issue; see [1].
I have seen setups between a few and hundreds of IOCs running on a single host.

Cheers,
~Ralph
