Hi,
Yes, we use the Galil DMC40x0 with the stepper and BiSS options, specifically, for the 8-axis version:
DMC-4080(ETL,ISCNTL)-C022(5V)-I000(BiSS,STEP)-I000(BiSS,STEP)-D4140-D4140
We currently have almost 40 stepper motors with BiSS absolute encoders (all linear Renishaw Resolute models, various resolutions, down to 5nm pitch), spread over 8 different
controllers. The Galil EPICS driver support setting up the BiSS configuration, and also monitoring the BiSS error, warning and timeout bits.
The above controller is now the standard at ORNL HFIR and SNS so we’ll install many more over the coming years. We’re also currently building a system with a different model
of BiSS encoder (high resolution industrial rotary type).
Cheers,
Matt

Subject: [EXTERNAL] Stepper motor with absolute encoder
Hallo everybody,
I have now several requests to control stepper motors with absolute encoders. I would like to ask if anybody has experiences with stepper
motor controllers and absolute encoders supported by motor record. Do you know a reliable solution for a motor controller wich supports the BISS encoder interface?
Best regards, Wolfgang
