Hello,

The "Getting Started Guide" on the EPICS website is a useful resource for installing and testing EPICS.

Here is the link: https://epics-controls.org/resources-and-support/documents/getting-started/

Another resource is the 2019 USPAS EPICS course hosted in Knoxville, TN. There is a virtual machine available along with presentations and exercises from the course that you may find useful.

Here is the link: https://controlssoftware.sns.ornl.gov/training/2019_USPAS/

Here is a link to other EPICS training material: https://epics-controls.org/resources-and-support/documents/training/

Let me know how else I can help,

Kyle

Subject: [EXTERNAL] EPICS Training for a noob?

Howdy,

I have been working at SLAC for a couple of years and I have seen the value in learning more about how to actually use EPICS (not just what it is and the theory behind its operation).  I have had very limited ability to actually construct a working EPICS softIOC (we use OLD versions of this here) and play with it.  I had heard of a course that was offered a couple years back, but nothing new.  Lots of things are gearing toward virtual participation…any new learning opportunities for EPICS IOCs from the community would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

-Steven Fleming, BLDO at SSRL, SLAC
