Hi Jackie,
At ALS and ALS-U, we are evaluating the Alarm services (I called
them as Alarm Trio) within ELK. We would like to keep ELK due to
ChannelFinder Services and potential Olg-ES services also. Due to the
limited of our resources, we stay inside the EPICS community tools,
not for developing something new from ourselves.
You may check how we "setup" these Alarm trio services with Phoebus
at https://github.com/jeonghanlee/phoebus-env
If you want to have a zoom meeting with us, I can arrange a meeting
with you later. Probably I can explain the reason why we would like
to use them in detail during the meeting.
Best,
Han
P.S. my lab email is jeonglee at lbl.gov

We are investigating options for the next generation alarm and logging systems for the LCLS and would like to poll the community to get a sense of what is being used elsewhere. At present, we use ALH (AlarmHandler) for alarms along with an IOC to provide PVs so the alarm tree can be displayed also with PyDM and EDM. As for log messages, we have a custom software developed in-house that receives messages (EPICS Log and other applications) via socket and insert them into an Oracle Database which is later consumed.

I would appreciate if you could share your experience with tools that you are currently using or also evaluating.
