Hello Yong

Our RPM packages have been used in the machine control system and most of the beamline control as well, except for galil and area detector in which I built only core and support. Most of synapps components as well as drivers like S7PLC have been RPM-packaged.

I was planning to publish the project on GitHub but could not find time for that because the SPEC files need some refactoring. Once I have something ready I will post to Tech-Talk. If you want separate RPM packages, let me know what modules do you want so I can send you the packages to try.

Best Regards,
Abdalla.

My two cents would be to use pkgsrc

  https://www.pkgsrc.org/

which could provide packages for various UNIX-like OSes including RHEL, Debian, macOS, etc. The packages would not be installed to the system locations on those OSes (e.g., /usr/bin, /usr/lib, etc.), but the packages would be consistent across all the supported OSes.
