Mark,
Thanks! I am hoping to retrofit EPICS into an existing plasma diagnostic already built with that camera. Those are important drawbacks to know about – thank you for sharing them. I will explore whether we can eventually replace this with
a different camera, or if it can’t be replaced, explore developing an areaDetector integration using the Windows SDK, down the road.
To follow up to the user group on my second question: is anyone using the
Gentec S-Link-2-Ethernet power meters?

Hi Scott,
I don’t know of areaDetector support for those Thorlabs cameras. I have looked at them before when others inquired about them. They have a few disadvantages
to be aware of:
-
They are not GenICam compliant, which means that ADAravis cannot be used with them.
-
The vendor SDK only supports Windows, so you cannot use Linux.
-
They only support rolling shutter, not global shutter. That means that each row of your image is acquired at a different time, they are not synchronous. That may or may not be an issue for
your application.

Hi EPICS users,
I have two inquiries about current drivers:
- Is anyone currently using areaDetector for this Thorlabs camera:
Thorlabs CS2100M-USB (https://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=11421)
- Is anyone using a driver with the Gentec S-Link-2-Ethernet power meter base station? (https://www.gentec-eo.com/products/s-link-2-ethernet)
- E.g. I found this from Marek Böhm in the archives of tech-talk:
https://epics.anl.gov/tech-talk/2015/msg00751.php
Thanks!
Scott
