Actually, I just increased the acquire period to be closer to the frame rate of the web cam (0.08s) and it updates much faster now. So it seems like 1s output was too slow and added some latency? Thanks so much for all the help.

Hi Peter and Mark,
I tried it with and without the timestamp bit, and I get the same behavior. Essentially, it takes about 10-15 s for the image to be updated in ImageJ. I'm attaching a screenshot of my URLDriver.adl screen as well as the image that I see on the web page and the image in ImageJ; you can see the two are not the same. My Acquire period is set to 1. The webcam should be outputting at 12fps in the web page.

Thanks!

Hi Katie, Mark,

Could you try removing the ?timestamp=1628535368535 bit from the URL (leaving only http://10.0.1.50/mjpg/video.mjpg )?

The timestamp indicates a specific image frame, having a specific time stamp.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi Mark and Peter,

Copying the image link and entering that into the URL setup screen does work; the new link looks like http://10.0.1.50/mjpg/video.mjpg?timestamp=1628535368535. When I pan the camera around, the image through the IOC does update, but very slowly relative to the camera updating in the web browser. Should I be expecting latency on the order of tens of seconds?

Thanks!

Katie

Hi Katie,

I’m not familiar with that particular camera model.

I’ve been trying to locate one from http://www.insecam.org/en/bytype/Axis/, but the site only selects by manufacturer, and not by model type.

In the web browser view (I’m using Firefox for this), can you right click on the image and select ‘copy image link”.

Does this give a different URL?

If so, can you try that instead?

Many camera types emit a compound image which cannot be parsed by the ADURL module.

Cheers,

Peter.

Hi Mark,

I'm using ADSupport R6-2-1 and I get the same error if %size=1 is removed from the url.

Thanks!

Katie

Hi Katie,

What version of ADSupport are you using?

What happens if you remove the &size=1 from the end of the URL?

Hi all,
I'm running epics base 3.15.9 with areaDetector R3-11 and using ADURL to try to grab images from an AXIS M5065 PTZ Network Camera. The URL of the image feed is http://10.0.1.50/view/view.shtml?id=68&imagepath=%2Fmjpg%2Fvideo.mjpg&size=1 and I can see the live feed in the browser but I get an error message in the ADURL IOC that states "error reading URL="" No decode delegate for this image format (/tmp/gm48Qkon) reported by ../constitute.c:1534 (GmReadImage)". Any help is appreciated, thank you!
