Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

I am working with a derivative of one of the QuadEM packages (namely NSLS_EM). The IOC uses an asynPortDriver with separate setters and getters e.g. Integration time has setter `$(P)$(R)IntegrationTime` and getter `$(P)$(R)IntegrationTime_RBV`.
Since the electrometer state can change independently of the IOC, I want to reflect the state changes in the IOC. I use a GUI in CSS BOY, and for the most part only display the setter PVs. Is there a way to have the IOC update the setters, ideally through
ASYN? The initial value of Integration Time is reflected in the setter on IOC startup, but attempts at changing setters using setIntegerParam() only change the getter. What might be causing this, and can I affect both setter and getter?
Thank you,
Iain Marcuson
