Good to know. We are running Base-7.0.2. I am guessing the problem was on the Archiver end. I don't know how that was built/deployed.
It is the Archiver end, which inherits this from JCA.

Michael ,
It turned out to be the array size/EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES.
Was this in the IOC or Archiver?
fyi. Base >= 3.16.1 doesn't use EPICS_CA_MAX_ARRAY_BYTES any more (by default).
https://github.com/epics-base/epics-base/blob/7.0/documentation/RELEASE_NOTES.md#epics_ca_max_array_bytes-is-optional <https://github.com/epics-base/epics-base/blob/7.0/documentation/RELEASE_NOTES.md#epics_ca_max_array_bytes-is-optional>
I was only putting 50 values in the array but NELM =2048. Reducing NELM fixed the problem.
Also, thanks for the pointer to the policies info. I was wondering about that.

All,
Does the EPICS Archiver Appliance accept waveforms? The documentation suggests it does, but I was unable to add one (after initial sampling its status is 'not being archived').
You may be running afoul of a policy condition.
cf. the default policy.
