That is not my interpretation of what Kay said:

That means it should not fill up the file, because it does not write anything if it has not changed.


Ok.
And since changed means either a new timestamp or a new value, setting ADEL=-1 would fill up the file even for a non-changing PV, with the SCAN/MONITOR setting only affecting the rate of filling it up.

I will understand it eventually. I'm confident.
