Hi Ray,

An EPICS 7 IOC can run perfectly well side-to-side with older IOCs; you may not be able to use all the new features depending on how your other infrastructure looks like, but otherwise I do not see any big issues with that.

If you have a (version 3 type) record-based soft IOC, that should run on EPICS 7 without big issues, at least if you do not use custom drivers or such.

But are there some specific things that you would like to do with the EPICS 7 IOC?

Best regards,

Timo (ESS)

Hi,

At our ORNL neutron beamlines, we normally deploy EPICS 3.14.12.6 and EPICS 4.6.

I would like to create an EPICS 7 IOC to run side-by-side with the EPICS 3/4 IOCs we are normally running.

How can I do this for a typical database-based soft IOC? For a Python IOC?

Thank you,

Ray
