Channel Access and PV Access rely on the current user ID.

There is no way in “caput” or any of the other of the EPICS clients to say: Actually, I’m a completely different user, namely xyz.

To change the user ID, you need to do that with whatever the OS offers, for example “su” or “sudo” on Linux, before starting the client tool.
