Hello Richard,

we have been using EPICS and the CAN Bus at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin
for the last 25 years.

We started with VME Bus IOCs and vxWorks, later RTEMS.
However, we recently added support for Linux.

The newest version of our CAN Bus device support, MultiCAN,
runs with Linux and the PCAN-PCI Express FD card from PEAK-System.

Maybe you will give it a try, the web page is here:

You can start with "Demo", this has a script that builds an IOC with CAN bus
support and uses virtual CAN interfaces, so you don't need a physical
CAN interface for this.

Greetings
  Goetz

Hello,

We have a new project requirement to read status via CAN bus into EPICS. Anyone have any advice on what CAN bus I/O hardware for a PC to buy?

Thanks!
