Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System

Hi Kim,
Welcome back!
For using Java with EPICS you’ll want to look at
Control System Studio and its newest
CSS-Phoebus variant, which have taken over the maintenance and development of the Java implementations of CA and PVA. There still isn’t a Java-based IOC, but those UI tools and related middleware
are more advanced and integrated than any other EPICS platform.

Hi All,
I’ve been away from EPICS for several years. I see a lot of progress has been made with version 7. The docs look really good and the build is much easier than it used to be. Great job!
I don’t see much in the docs regarding Java, although I see there is an epicsCoreJava repo on GitHub. I’m especially interested in PVA support in Java and whether it is possible to have any sort of Java-based IOC.
Can someone say what the status of Java is in EPICS and point me to any relevant docs?
Thank you!
Kim
